The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center’s Tim Tumminello Named to New Orleans CityBusiness Power List

Tim Tumminello, Senior Director of People Services and Innovation for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC), has been named to New Orleans CityBusiness’ prestigious “Power List: Human Resources 2025.”

The New Orleans CityBusiness quarterly feature honors standout professionals whose leadership is reshaping workplaces and industries across the region. This recognition highlights Tumminello’s two decades of excellence in human resources (HR), culture building and forward-thinking innovation.

After joining the NOENMCC in 2002 as an HR specialist, Tumminello’s talent and dedication helped him rise through the ranks to his current senior leadership role. He now oversees strategic staffing, employee engagement, training, payroll, benefits and policy development — all while leading the Convention Center’s innovation team to identify and implement creative operational strategies.

“Tim brings a rare combination of empathy and ingenuity to his role, and the Convention Center is a better place to work because of his contributions,” said Alita Caparotta, Convention Center Interim President and CEO. “His success in fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement has made a lasting impact, not only within our organization, but across the industry. This recognition is a well-earned celebration of Tim and his leadership.”

Playing an important role in the NOENMCC’s ongoing investments in innovation and employee engagement, Tumminello has led several transformative initiatives including the Culture Project and the iCollab group, both of which aim to cultivate accountability, employee-driven innovation and organizational alignment. Recently, he introduced a pilot program using artificial intelligence to streamline internal processes and improve service delivery, further bolstering the NOENMCC’s position as a leader in the meetings and events industry.

Outside of his work at the Convention Center, Tumminello is an active voice in the HR and technology integration space. He is a member of the New Orleans Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the SHRM Executive Network. In 2024, he earned SHRM’s AI + HI Specialty Credential as part of the inaugural cohort. Following the conference, he founded the AI Innovators Alliance, a peer network of HR and IT professionals who meet bi-weekly to share strategies on responsible AI adoption in the workplace.

He served as human resources manager at Scariano Brothers, LLC, for ten years prior to joining the Convention Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in management from the University of New Orleans and an associate degree in business administration from Delgado Community College.

In addition to his professional achievements, Tumminello is deeply involved in the local community. He has chaired the Crawfish for Cancer of New Orleans fundraiser, participates annually in the Miracle Beauties Crawfish Cookoff benefiting children with special needs and supports efforts that assist families navigating Louisiana’s support services for special needs care.
