The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC) has received a 2023 Venue Excellence Award from the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) the most prestigious award of the venue management profession. This is the first time the NOENMCC has been honored with this distinction in its 38-year history.

As a national nonprofit, the Food Recovery Network works with colleges, convention centers, and other large event centers around the country to fight hunger by donating food items to those in need that would otherwise go to waste.
Food donations from the events held at the Convention Center are coordinated by Centerplate and made to local partners, such as Bethel Colony. Over 64,000 lbs. of food were donated to Bethel Colony in 2019, benefitting both their residents as well as other organizations in the community. An additional 52,000 lbs. of food were donated by exhibitors to Second Harvest Food Bank. The Convention Center also helped turned 24,000 lbs. of grease into bio-fuels.

For the seventh time, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has received a “Safest 70” award from the Louisiana Workers Compensation Corporation (LWCC), the largest workers’ compensation carrier in the state. The award acknowledges excellence, outstanding performance, and commitment to workplace safety, and is given to the top 70 of over 20,000 entities insured by LWCC

It was first created in 1975 to raise professional standards in the event industry and it continues to be the premier mark of professional achievement.

The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program was launched in 1985 to enhance the knowledge and performance of meeting professionals, promote the status and credibility of the meeting profession and advance uniform standards of practice.
Today, the CMP credential is recognized globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry. The qualifications for certification are based on professional experience, education and a rigorous exam.
